Photographic Data Collection for the Development of a Damage Recognition System for Interior Furnishing Materials

Introduction

We participated in a pilot project to support the development of a damage recognition system focused on materials used in interior furnishings. The goal was to collect images of home interiors in Poland, offering a comprehensive view of spaces and materials to aid in the analysis of wear and tear. The client required a precise, compliant visual dataset free from sensitive data, but faced challenges in organizing and geolocating the collection. We provided end-to-end support, from collaborator selection to image validation.

Solution and Benefits

  • Collection of residential interior images in Poland according to the client’s technical specifications
  • Delivery of complete images offering a detailed visual representation of the environment
  • Data collection carried out in full compliance with image format and type guidelines
  • Direct support to collaborators during the collection phase to ensure full compliance

Results and Conclusions

  • Pilot project completed in under one week
  • Over 100 images collected and validated according to the client’s technical and quality standards
  • Clean, precise dataset free of sensitive information
  • Reliable visual foundation for training an AI system to recognize damage on furnishing surfaces
